CNC Machinist
Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to perform precision machining operations, validate and optimize programs, and ensure high-quality production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with problem-solving and continuous improvement opportunities, allowing you to make a direct impact on safety, quality, and operational performance.
SALARY: $28-$32/hr. DOE
LOCATION: Portland, OR
SCHEDULE: Full-time; Monday-Thursday | 5:30am-4:00pm

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Perform CNC machining operations, including proving out new programs, verifying tooling and setups, and making program adjustments to ensure quality and production requirements are met.
- Load, unload, and position workpieces in fixtures, while inspecting finished parts using gauges, calipers, and other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Monitor machine operations to identify machining issues, equipment malfunctions, or quality concerns, and take corrective action as needed to maintain efficient production.
- Analyze programs, tooling, setups, and manufacturing processes to recommend improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Associate degree in Machining Technology preferred, with experience in machine shop mathematics, horizontal mill setups, and CNC machining using FANUC controls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, understand CNC G & M code, apply proper speeds, feeds, and tooling, and follow detailed work instructions with a high level of accuracy.
- Skilled in inspecting parts for conformance to specifications using visual and mechanical inspection methods, performing routine preventive maintenance, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams; experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment and requires the ability to work a full-time schedule, including overtime as needed to meet production demands. Employees must stand and walk for extended periods, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 70 pounds using team lifts or mechanical aids, and effectively manage production priorities while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.
