Legal Assistant – Workers’ Compensation Defense
This role offers the opportunity to play an integral part in active litigation, providing hands-on support throughout all stages of the legal process. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values precision, organization, and professional growth.
LOCATION: Tigard, OR
SALARY: $24-28/hr. DOE
SCHEDULE: Full-time | 40 hours/wk. some schedule flexibility

Take ownership of case management responsibilities, including drafting documents and tracking deadlines with attorney guidance
Build strong professional communication skills through regular interaction with legal professionals, courts, and external partners
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist attorneys with litigation matters at various stages, managing case files and performing assigned tasks under moderate supervision
Review, analyze, and summarize medical records, claim files, deposition transcripts, witness statements, and other litigation-related documents
Conduct medical and legal research, including obtaining and reviewing physician, hospital, pharmacy, and court records
Draft pleadings, discovery responses, subpoenas, correspondence, reports, and case budgets for attorney review
Track deadlines and case activity, follow up on documentation, and communicate regularly with claims examiners, policyholders, courts, and legal professionals to ensure timely case progression
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
2+ years of relevant legal experience; familiarity with medical records and terminology. Workers’ Comp or other defense experience ideal
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and some case management software, with ability to learn firm’s software
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, and attention to detail, including discretion with sensitive information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, as well as occasional standing, walking, and light lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds. Must have sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate standard office equipment, review documents, and manage administrative tasks efficiently.
